Community Care Project

The Community Care Project is jointly funded by Slough Social Services and Slough PCT. It’s aim is to build and enhance the consultation and involvement of service users, in the decisions taken about local services.
In order to do that we work on three levels.

Support And User Groups; The SCVS Small Groups Project has the capacity to help groups and group members to develop. We aim to help them find a way of getting their voices heard.

Forum; The project assists in organising forum meetings. Currently there 5 Fora; the Old Persons Forum, the Mental Health Forum; the Learning Disabilities Forum; the Carers Forum and the Disability Forum. These serve to bring groups and individuals together with the statutory sector. They are an opportunity for information exchange and opinion gathering. The project is committed to developing the representation at forum meetings so it fully reflects the local population and to finding ways of developing individual’s contribution who are committed to the Forum.

Partnership Board Level; the project works with the Partnership Boards to ensure local decision making is enhanced by including user experiences and opinions. At this level the project is able to take a wider perspective on community care matters. Central Government initiatives
and the NHS plan are key to the Boards’ work. The project all the time is reconciling what this means for the population in Slough.
