Community Care Project

Community Care Project

The Community Care Project started in April 2000. It is based at Slough Council for Voluntary Service in the centre of Slough.

Mary Kelly is the worker for the project.

Mary’s role is to be the link between the statutory authorities, the Voluntary Sector and the people of Slough, so that local people can have an opportunity to influence how the Health and Social Care Services they use are planned, designed and delivered.

Aims of the Project

The aim of the project is for Slough Council for Voluntary
Service (SCVS) to facilitate a link which will enable local people:-

  • To voice concerns leading to action where appropriate;
  • To influence the delivery of current and new services;
  • To push for new services;
  • To act in partnership with statutory and voluntary organisations;
  • To be a strong voice to influence the Health Authority and Social
    Services;To identify gaps in services and respond to users.

The project works with the Partnership Boards to ensure local decision making is enhanced by including user experiences and opinions. At this level the project is able to take a wider perspective on community care matters. Central Government initiatives and the NHS plan are key to the Boards’ work. The project all the time is reconciling what this means for the population in Slough.
