About SCVS

Slough Council for Voluntary Service

Slough CVS is your local charity set up to help people who
want to start a voluntary group or who want to see their existing
group develop its work, get funds or undertake new services.

It also gives local groups a chance to participate in the town's
decision making process. Various forums are held during the
year to gain people's views.

Slough CVS gives information, advice, training and
continuing support around:

  • The kinds of group to set up
  • Roles of the people in it
  • Running an efficient meeting
  • Writing a constitution
  • Venues to hire
  • Local people who can help
  • Local groups doing similar work
  • Local partnerships your group could join
  • Funding opportunities

Slough CVS carries out these functions by:

  • One-to-one Development Work
  • Empowering the voluntary sector
  • Participation events
  • Funding events
  • A quarterly newsletter - Newsline
  • Training sessions
  • Funding e-newsletters
  • Making books and leaflets available
  • Use of a Resource Room

Slough CVS is an association of local voluntary groups who
elect from among themselves representatives to manage
the organisation.

Slough Council for Voluntary Service is registered charity No. 1069086 and company limited by guarantee, registered in England No. 3523907. It is a member of the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action and the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.
